Although this AI model can be trained to learn new things, it cannot generate creativity out of thin air. At the end of the day a pre-programmed AI model cannot display the same amount of creativity as a human author. Students using GPT to solve homework see it as a win but using applications like ChatGPT to solve problems defeats the reason for giving an assignment in the first place. However, applications such as GPTZero and Turnitin can be used to detect plagiarized answers and are being employed in many universities to catch offenders.

Other prominent players in the industry are also pushing the limits of AI with equally ambitious tools. However, giving AI such power can have unintended consequences such as bots going rogue, job crisis, spread of propaganda and various other risks that we may not be privy to. As such many who are seasoned in the AI field have raised concerns regarding the development of GPT and its rivals like Google Bard, Chatsonic. With the rumoured 10-billion-dollar investment from Microsoft and the trend of tech companies investing more staff into AI segments of their businesses, its apparent that it is not a matter of “if” but rather “when” AI will be integrated into our daily lives.
